Privacy policy
What we collect, why we hold it, and how to have it removed
TEN Brief ("the site") is published and operated from the Republic of Korea. It is governed by Korean law, in particular the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. This page explains, for readers anywhere, what the site collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.

There are no user accounts, so we never ask for a name, a phone number, or a national identification number. The newsletter takes only the email address you type in yourself, and we do not send promotional messages to anyone who has not asked for them.
2. Cookies and advertising
The site may set cookies for usage statistics and for advertising. A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser; you can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings. Reading articles works the same either way.
This site shows ads through Kakao AdFit. Advertising providers may use cookies to select ads they think are relevant to you, in which case that provider's own privacy policy applies alongside this one. To turn off personalised advertising from Google, use Google Ad Settings.
3. Sharing and processors
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not hand it to third parties at our discretion. We do rely on outside services to run the site. Where a service is used, it is named here.

- Advertising — the ad network named above
Where Korean authorities make a lawful request through the proper procedure, we follow the applicable law.
4. Your requests
You may ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to have its processing stopped. This applies wherever you live; we do not require you to be resident in Korea.
The newsletter can be cancelled instantly through the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email. For anything else, write to [email protected] and we will act on the request without undue delay. Say which email address the request concerns; that is normally the only identifier we hold.
This site does not claim to operate a GDPR or CCPA compliance programme. If you are covered by those laws and believe you have rights beyond what is described here, raise it at the address above and we will deal with the request on its merits.
5. Deletion
Data is destroyed without delay once its retention period ends or its purpose is met. Electronic records are deleted so they cannot be recovered; printed material is shredded or incinerated.
6. Keeping data safe
Access to personal data is limited to as few people as possible, and traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. The site is served as static files, so reading an article stores no personal data.

8. If you are not satisfied
Bring the complaint to the contact address above first; that is the fastest route, and it is the one we can act on directly. Because the site is operated in Korea, the supervisory and dispute bodies for personal data are Korean ones, and they handle enquiries in Korean.

9. Changes to this policy
Any addition, deletion or amendment is posted at least seven days before it takes effect. Where a change materially affects your rights, we post it thirty days ahead.
