French AI company Mistral announced on September 8, 2026 that it had raised €3 billion in a Series D round led by Samsung Electronics, at a post-money valuation above €21 billion — about $24 billion. Mistral calls it the largest equity round ever completed by a European technology company. Co-leads were the Scaleup Europe Fund managed by EQT and existing investor PSG Equity; new investors included Advent, funds and accounts managed by BlackRock, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. A year earlier Mistral's Series C, led by Dutch lithography maker ASML, valued the company at €11.7 billion — the valuation has roughly doubled in twelve months. Chief executive Arthur Mensch told CNBC the money will go into building and owning data centers as well as renting additional compute, and said Mistral is on track to pass $1 billion in annual recurring revenue before the end of the year.
